What’s the thing you’re most scared to do? What would it take to get you to do it?

Hey, I just saw this and was like, whoa. This WordPress prompt is making me feel challenged. (a.k.a. scared) 🙂 And I am literally a horror writer blogging about “tussling with terrors,” so …how could I resist?

It took me a minute, but here is the truest answer.

I don’t know if you are going to like this, friends. Totally out of character for this blog for sure. But once the challenge is accepted…

I work at a high school. And I have my bad habits. So … the scariest thing I can think of right now? Going out into a learning space on the first floor of our building, and, say, picking my nose right out there, with all these semi-bored last-block-of-the-day kids gazing out of their enormous classrooms’ open windows.

Not so semi-bored anymore.

What would it take for me to do it?

Actually?

I was going to say a million dollars, the classic choice. Honestly though, would I say no to a few hundred thousand? Enough for me to quit my day job so I don’t have to ever show my disgraced face in that building ever again? Then again, even 10k isn’t necessarily somethig you can find scattered around the parking lot. Hell, 5k might do just fine.

I know, I know, this is not being very abundant in my mindset, is it. Then again, is picking your nose in public so very bad anyway — IF one uses their hand sanitizier first?

Maybe that’s the point, fears squirm and shrink, when we start examining them.

Besides, if I told the kids I was doing it for money, they’d totally get it. They’d be like, what’s the name of this challenge, and why can’t I find it on TikTok?

And I’d be like, just don’t forget your hand sanitizer!

Ok, how about you, friends? Who is brave enough to share their fear? What would you be most terrified to do?
